Privacy
This site collects very little. Here's exactly what, why, and who it's shared with.
What's collected
This site uses Google Analytics (GA4) to understand which pages get read and how people find them — page views, approximate location derived from IP address, device and browser type, and referring site. Google Analytics sets first-party cookies (_ga, _ga_*) to distinguish visitors between sessions; these expire after about two years.
It also uses Vercel Web Analytics for a second, privacy- friendlier view of the same basic traffic data — page views and referring site. Vercel Web Analytics doesn't use cookies, doesn't store IP addresses, and can't track you across other sites.
Beyond that, no other cookies, trackers, or analytics tools run on this site, and there's no login, newsletter signup, or contact form that would collect personal information directly.
You can opt out of Google Analytics using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, or by blocking analytics scripts with a browser extension or content blocker — the site works identically either way.
Hosting
This site is served as static files by Vercel. Like any web host, Vercel logs standard request data (IP address, timestamp, requested page, user agent) as part of normal operation. I don't have access to raw server logs beyond what Vercel's own dashboard exposes, and I don't use them for anything.
Third-party links
This site links out to GitHub, LinkedIn, Bluesky, Spotify, and scootr.ca. Once you click through, you're subject to that site's own privacy policy — this page only covers jeremyshields.ca itself.
Your options
Because so little is collected, there's not much to request or delete beyond what Google Analytics holds — see Google's own privacy policy for how to manage that. For anything else — questions, concerns, or a request to be told exactly what's held about you — email hello@jeremyshields.ca.
Changes
If what this site collects or who it's shared with changes — for example, a move to a different host — this page will be updated to reflect it, and the date below will move.
